Hike to the second highest waterfall in Sri Lanka on a rainy evening with low light and a trail through jungle. A must see location in Sri Lanka. This beauty is located in Koslanda, with a height of 220m and the trek to the top takes about 30 minutes. The villagers in the area or the fellow travelers will help you to find the path as it is bit overgrown.
The hike through the jungle is adventurous but make sure to descend before the nigh falls. We got caught in time and got late to descend and were later on warned by a villager of elephants roaming though the jungle during the evening. The path in fact crosses an elephant pass, for the elephants coming all the way from Yala sanctuary.
By the time we were at the crest, it started raining and the water level picked up at an alarming rate. Word of cautious – never cross the river when the water level is high as you can get caught to a water current!
We were not able to jump into the famous pond at the crest due to the heavy water flow at the time. But the adventure continued! When the water level is down one can enjoy a bath at the famous water pond at the crest with a breathtaking 3600 view of Ella, Sri Lanka.
With the rain subsiding, the mist covered the area for a while, hence the cloudy effect on the top left hand corner of the photo. But, oh, it was so magical!!!
