Unveiling ‘Olu Ella’ in Sri Lanka…..
This beauty is in the middle of Ampana Forest in Yatiyantota, Kegalle District, Sri Lanka. If you ever find yourself in Sri Lanka, do reserve your time for a small hike to enjoy this hidden view. The surprising fact is not many Sri Lankans have taken this hike to the top of Olu Ella, therefore, there is hardly any pollution. If you travel from Colombo, this is only 80 km to 85 km away, through a scenic route across Halgolla Estate and it will only take around 2 to 3 hours to reach to the bottom of Olu Ella where you will find the famous wooden bride across the road.
If you plan to hike up to the origin point of Olu Ella, you might want to start your way quite early. Even we couldn’t go to the origin point due to the distance from this place where we stopped our journey for the day.
Check out this video to share our journey to the top of Olu Ella .
It is said that this waterfall never runs dry even in the worst of droughts. This fall is consistent of several tiers creating unique waterfalls every time it falls down.
I was craving just to sit on a rock amidst the river and read a book the whole day, while my feet enjoy the water flow. Sometimes I believe nature works in amazing ways to give you a different perspective of life.
